Where are people getting any of this stuff from?

Sources I can find put the PS2 no longer in production (http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2013/jan/04/playstation-2-manufacture-ends-years), with sales (presumably shipment) of 155M, plus the those shipped since Mar 2012, which is going to leave it considerably below the 160 mark, probably around 157-158M total produced, with essentially all of them shipped and sold, and the few that aren't will be soon.

And then we have the DS, which "Nintendo will continue to sell Nintendo DS Hardware but is not revealing a unit sales forecast at this time." VGChartz numbers put the DS at 154.55 sold, with maybe another 0.25 shipped but not sold, giving 154.8M, requiring sales of 2.2-3.2M more to match the PS2. Considering that the DS sold 3.4 M in 2012, and is selling about 50% of what it was a year ago, it could end up getting 1.7M in 2013 if it isn't discontinued.

Not saying the DS will make it, but it's certainly closer to making it than the 15M+ gap that other people seem to be indicating.

3.4m PS2+PS3 shipped in the past quarter. Surely you don't think that's only PS3?

And actually, VGChartz DS numbers have been overtracked for a while (as in higher sales here than shipments reported by Nintendo)

Finally, PS2 is outselling DS quarter after quarter. The gap isn't becoming smaller, it's becoming bigger.

I was hoping someone would correct him so i didn't have to.
