Yeah. Very literally in FFXIII's case.
WRPGs, too, in a way. I don't think all streamlining is necessarily bad, but it has gotten to be a bit much with oversimplification and handholding. Even Bethesda games, as sandboxy as they are, are about following the arrow to victory. It's a nice change to play something like Demon's Souls or Soul Sacrifice that still throws you in the deep end and expects you to figure it out for yourself.
