i think microsoft's relation to japanese developers is not that bad but if it comes to the customers, japanese really don't care about xbox.
but the xbox is a good example that systems without good sales just don't get many games. xbox doesn't get a lot of games in japan which come to ps3 but nobody is talking about that because everyone believes that makes sense (and it makes sense) but if wii u doesn't get some games in the western because those developers believe the games wouldn't sell enough people say "uhh those bad third party developers hate nintendo, they are so unfair!"
the only reason microsoft got some japanese games the first time was because microsoft paid a lot of money for that, otherwise xbox would have had the same support in japan as wii u has in western and i can absolutely understand that from a japanese developer's perspective.
€dit: some people here say microsoft still get all the japanese games but really? all the time a new game releases in japan for ps3 i think "ahh one more game not for 360". except for the really big games and some weird games of very small developers, xbox is missing a lot of japanese games in my opinion.
