What's special about your player character? why can't I move or explore or, yu know, DO anything. what's wrong with shopping for items, exploration, etc. Ragnarok Odyssey was pretty simple and straightforward, but at least that had a PATH that CULMINATED in a boss fight or something. This is just "select a scene from a menu, be dropped into the middle of the fight, and good luck!" That is not fun. Collecting spells for sacrifice can be fun, yes, and accumulating things to combine and improve is good, and upgrading one's character is fine, but as mentioned, I've never seen a game so well made be so unengaging...aside from Final Fantasy XIII, and you all know what I felt about that game. |
Did you play Valkyria Chronicles? cuz that was set up in the same story book fashion. The book is magical and you are reliving the memories of those before you as you read it. its a PORTABLE GAME as well. It would ruin the bite sized missions aspect if it put you in a huge open world ala Dark Souls. The book actually makes the game streamlined(like you said, FFXIII) which is perfect for a handheld title.
