Isn't dead space a relatively popular franchise though. How much did the previous games sell?

Yea the first was popular and a nice survior horror game that was morphed to a space fps and im sure lost alot of its audience along the way.  Dont know why companies constantly go against the grain on games that proved to be highly successful.
