7 cents a disc of which Sony will receive less than 1 cent,

7 dollars per drive of which Sony will receive less than 1 dollar.

You forget the licensing required for mass production printing machines, Licensing for distrubution in various regions is also different and of course licensing to modify the format of the drive to implement additional security for disk protection, whilst maintaining the functionality of original disks, but hey..

Where do all these licenses come from? Could you provide a link?

It's industry deal originated, it's not like theres just a webpage you can go to, to look them up, basically any company wanting to mass produce blu-ray movies need to not only pay for the disks but also license the hardware burning them, you can't just setup a company using PC based bluray burners and create corporate media for sale, sure it'd work if your userbase is small and you're making copies homebrew, but as soon as you start needing mass production hardware you start needing licenses too.

So all this licensing stuff is not written anywhere? Then how do you know? And do you think that mass-production is done by MS? I doubt so. Most probably there are factories that mass-product optical discs for any company. Or do you think that MS currently has a big factory that produces 360-discs for them? What about publishers? Their games are also produced there? Or does EA have their own DVD- and BR-factories?

How would i know?, the last three companies not including the one i now work for have released games for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii. Production of the disks in most likelyhood won't be done by MS but MS will still have to pay licensing fees for the production of them, and even if MS themselves did a centralized production of the disks and had publishers submit gold disks to them to handle production and maintain security, they'd have to foot the licensing bills themselves or pass on the bills to the partaking publishers, either way that's a portion of money in Sony's pocket, regardless of where they're pressed.

As for the rest, you need to researching the production cycle and what publishers actually do, and what fees/licenses they pay.

*I* have to do research? Well, you filled up your post with further infos where there is no proof for what you said. So until now I keep it in mind but still have doubts until it is proven to me. This includes that MS has to pay licensing for changing the format to implement further security.

I don't especially see why this would be an issue at all as Sony will probably has to pay this also (either they are using factories that produce brs for them or they have to operate themself) and I don't see why this is different in comparison to dvd.
