7 cents a disc of which Sony will receive less than 1 cent,

7 dollars per drive of which Sony will receive less than 1 dollar.

Sony needs all the help it can get. So they'll be hoping for massive Nextbox sales. In fact they'll probably start out making more money off every Nextbox sold than PS4, figuring Sony will sell each PS4 at a small (hopefully) loss.

At 1c/disc and Nextbox hopefully selling an average of 100 million discs per year that'll be a cool $1 million per year from Nextbox disc sales. Should just about cover Kaz's lunch money.

The problem is that they have to give MS more money because of Android...

1. I thought Sony was still holding out.

2. Sony's Android sales are still pretty sad, so they'll probably come out ahead for a wee while.

3. It's still a revenue stream from Nextbox that did not exist with Xbox360.

2. http://gadgets.ndtv.com/mobiles/news/sony-xperia-z-sales-top-46-million-in-40-days-report-354794 Not soooo bad... And there Android-sales are now higher than ever. Remember, they have to pay for *every* android-phone they sell. You can be sure they sell way more Android-phones than MS will with NextBox.

3. And the Android-income didn't happen when 360 was released... So what? I don't know how much Sony has to pay for MS but I think it is *way* more than MS has to pay to the br-association. AFAIR it was sth. around $10.
