It didn't look like she was leaving the battlefield, she actually died (and her dead quote sounded as such). Could be wrong though, since I was expecting a game over screen and it didn't came out, the mission continued as normal.

Only Chrom and Avatar get game over.

I'm guessing Lucina doesn't actually die and becomes a character who you can never use again, but still is in cutscene parts.

But most everyone else would be dead for good and won't hear about them till end credits when it says they died.
