I agree with you. He has the right to express what he believes. If you don't agree with what he says then that's your right. As for me, an openly gay Christian, I don't agree with what he says but I'm not upset with what this ESPN journalist states as his belief. I feel that every Christian lives in sin because everyone sins on a daily basis.
