Totally disagree. Ideally you want to do something you enjoy, but realistically you need to prepare for your future. History doesn't exactly open many doors for you is my point.

I don't have enough knowledge to judge about other fuelds of study besides "natural science" but I doubt that history won't give you much choices later to get a job. Usually you specialize in a certain topic and profs will give you hints where to get a job later.
