Metroid, one of the big three

Metroid is definitely not one of the Big Three.

I also think it's just plain main to consider Mario Kart as a totally separate franchise in this case. If we do that then we need to count all of the largely popular Mario spin-offs. (Which would pretty much take up all of the Big Three.)
