The RRoD was directly caused by being the first mainstream consumer product to conform to the EU lead-free solder legislation, which also caused reliability issues for other products such as some Nvidia cards and arguably, the PS3.

Well I can vouch that the RROD and the YLOD are both issues I experience between MS and Sony console so I am thinking that reveal time is not an indication of build quality.  Reveal are pretty much dictated by marketing and what they believe they can do and gain momentum for a release.
