Being that the the Wii was purchased primarily by non-gamers, I doubt 85% of the owners even will see that message because the console isnt even plugged into the internet.

You do know that Nintendo has actual numbers for how many Wii's are connected to the internet, right? I'm not entirely sure they would push out a message like that if only 15% of Wii owners would see it. Even if that number was 100% accurate, that still accounts for almost 15 million users (based off of 99m Wii's sold)...which is plenty of people.

That annoying blue light glows when you get a message too, and doesn't go away until you see it so it's not like it will go completely unnoticed either.

I was never talking about official numbers from Nintendo. I was talking based off of Nielsen reports I read. I never said 15 million was bad but support for the Wii is pretty much done. Even if its 25% still plugged in think about how many homes with mutiple consoles are using the other for their multimedia. The number dwindles further. The Kinect launch in the US must have definitely penetrated the Wii non-gamer circles so that number dwindles a little bit more between 2010-2012. 18 Million Kinects sold witin those two years? Thats crazy good. They basically sucked up a small chunk of the Wii audience for sure. During those years the PS3's netflix numbers soared to first place. The 15-20 million I speak of are probably the more serious core to moderate gamers. It doesn't have to be 100% correct but does  this make even the slightest bit of sense?
