I don't understand how one can care about and be a fan of an E-sports team. Is there some good video I could watch to be able to "get it"?

I don't have any of Dota 2, but dude, get the right game, and it can literally be absolutely amazing to watch.

That's literally my favorite ending ever. Note this is League, but similar idea.

Multiplayer matches can certainly be very exciting and entertaining to watch, and I've watched several Age of Empire 2 games over the years, but I just can't give a damn about who the person is behind the keyboard. In contrast to traditional sports, I only root for the one who happens to be the underdog at a given moment.

Well in DOTA  most players have distinct playstyles and roles, naturally (just like in a football game) some people become more popular than others.

This has become especially apparent in MOBA games. Where certain players have roles, like farming, ganking, bushing, supporting etc.

If a certain player is tasked with being carry in DOTA (the guy who needs to kill everybody)...he has a damn good chance of stealing the show at the end of the game. Thats kinda just how it goes in any team game.

Also certain players/teams have personality and the way Valve has gone about The International since the very beginning has been great. They really promote the teams and the players.

Now we're getting somewhere. I hadn't thought about the separation into different roles. That's interesting.
