I disagree with the bolded, the reason why so many like the F22 is because it was the sucessor to the most popular jet plane during the Gulf War , the F-16, they mass produced them in ridiculous numbers, so most pilots use them nowadays, and by the time the next upgrade came to be , F22 became the standard , while F-16 became the most common.

I thought in terms of match-ups the F22 is Top-tier like a fighting game character.
