Signed up finally for this site. First post. Older gamer, own all 3 current systems, which in my opinion is the ONLY way you can play every great game. Plan to own all 3 new ones cost permitting one day.

That being said I think this is a strategy by Nintendo given their current situation. Let the other two fight it out and then assess the aftermath. Nintendo plans to react to those conferences (from pricing to announcements). Those larger conferences are a big expense, and what would you gain by jumping between two dogs going at each other (that are competitors no less)?

Let Microsoft and Sony fight for hype. And then have many, smaller game announcements to steal as much of the spotlight away over the next few days.  If they tried to do that all at once with one big conference and failed to do so... then what?  Hence the drawn out attention.

And you can broadcast ANYTHING to the world these days, whether it be a room full of 100 journalists, or a room full of 1100 people (1000 which are public, rabid fans). You can even get the same camera flashes, cheering, applauding, etc. Yeah you can't really pan a camera and show, "looks, 1000s of people think we're awesome", but you can still get 90% of the effect.

99% of game buyers these days don't get their news from a LIVE e3 conference. I have work and don't have time to sit through that shit. They get it later, summarized by a website (internet) or via a commercial (TV). Perhaps through a quick blurb on the news (unlikely, but hey).

Anyway, everyone just needs to relax and quit bashing. And [insert name here], you've said in other posts that PS4 is the only system you can afford in the short term. And that's OK. However, stop trying to underhandedly justify / rationalize that thought process to other by negatively bashing the other two. This goes for any system of course. It's a little tiring.

The bottom line is COST matters. Will I buy a PS4? Of course, eventually. But if it's $500 probably not on the first day. That's why is not about always jamming as much technology under the hood as you can. Anyone can put together a 1000 dollar system, but the big 3 all work to find a delicate balance that meets their strategy. Sony's has always been people will pay (from PS4 to their TVs). Nintendo's lately has been that people want something different they just don't know it yet. Etc.

Anyhow, I'll end my rant now. Just try and view these things without blinders on. Nintendo is not doing this to "roll over" or "stick their head in the sand". That's absurd, period. Their playing the chess game just like everyone else.
