You're dreaming and I don't mean that in a cheeky way, good games don't change direction of the industry, crap boring games do that everyone plays. Adventure games have been and gone. We've seen things like The Last Of Us before, that's not a new thing by any means. It's just that this time it's got support from a company that has money to hype it up.
Apart from possibly the MMO bit...after all, popular MMOs make big money and are addictive to certain people. That's hardly going to be a new direction though is it.
