MS will always get hated on, because sony fans and the media are rabid. When MS made the xbox it was too hardcore and shooter based, when MS made 360 it was still too hardcore even though it had a wide variety of games, when kinect came out MS "abandoned" the core gamer. This is just a continuation of past generations. No matter what MS gets hated on.

Ms has always been hated for many reasons. Putting the blame on only a group of fans is severly lacking sight. Apple fans and Lynux fans alike have hated MS for much longer than some Sony fans.

When MS entered the console gaming scene, people left and right were worried that the company would destroy the industry with it's questionable business practices. Now, did it actually happen? I'm not going to comment on that. But suffice to say, some trends going on right now in the industry aren't really in place for the consumer's interest.

I doubt this is entirely Microsoft's fault.
