It's a wonderful idea for everyone out there who aren't able to empathize with what gay people go through. It's actually a point I often raise when talking to straight people about gay issues, what if you felt exactly they way you feel about the opposite sex right now but you lived in a world where that wasn't normal. Would you conform and marry someone of your gender or would you try to find someone like you?
