wii was an overclocked gamecube with a little more ram. wii u has a gpu many years ahead of the ones on ps360, as well as 4 times as much ram that seems to be highly optmized so it could end up the equivalent of 3 gb of ram or more if we compare to the raw performance. so clearly the wii u is a nice step up from ps3. on the other hand, the ps4 and next box are not as big steps up from the ps360 as the ps360 were from ps2xbox.
it's like a much more powerful wii against moderately less powerfull ps360 = not that big of a difference.

Such misinformation.
The Wii U has roughly only Double the amount of ram available to developers compared to the Xbox 360 and PS3, not quadruple or ten times, but double.
Ram doesn't do any processing, it doesn't have the quivalent of 3gb of ram, it has the equivalent of 1gb of ram which is currently the amount given to developers, this may or may not change over time, that is highly dependant on Nintendo and how much they can reduce the memory consumption of the Wii U's operating system over time.
As for the Graphics chip, I'm not doubting it cannot do more graphics tricks than the Direct X 9 class graphics chips in the Xbox 360 and PS3, I fully expect it to use things like Tessellation and such, which is going to be it's LARGEST advantage over the current consoles. (Although the Xbox 360 has a Tessellator too, but it's underpowered and can only be used sparingly for things like water.)
It's not going to be anymore than a 2-3 fold increase in image quality, which lets be honest is still a bloody nice increase over the current systems.
The GPU is a 40nm part, the system has a maximum power draw of 75 watts, the fastest 40nm graphics chip that would fit that would be a Radeon 6670, however it's more than likely not a Radeon 6670 class GPU, but something significantly less as the system has to power a system drive, optical drive, Ram, CPU, GPU, Chipsets, controllers the works, so in the end it's probably safe to say the GPU has about 30-40 watts for itself which would land it at the Radeon 6450/6570 level.
To put that kind of performance into perspective, Integrated Graphics, Aka. IGP's have been available for a long time that's faster than that, however with that said, it's still a couple of multiples faster than the Xbox 360 and PS3, but it's nowhere near a PS4, 720 (I assume) or PC, Nintendo gave up on the high-end gaming market long ago, starting with the Wii.
Don't get me wrong, I would love for the Wii U to be competitive with the Xbox 720 and PS4, more competition is a GOOD thing as it always benefits the consumer, but you need to be realistic on the direction that Nintendo was taking the Wii U in.
