“Wii U has lost momentum due to the release pace of first-party titles which has not lived up to consumers’ expectations."

Well, no shit, Iwata.

These damn droughts have been one of their main problems for over 15 years...and if I´m not mistaken, before the Wii U launched, he said or implied that specific issue would be improved, and here we are, with yet another drought, and not even Pikmin 3 could make it for the launch window.

It´s like a broken record -- "we must and will improve the pace"..BAM, drought! ... years later, a new system arrives -- "we must and will improve the pace" ..BAM, drought again!

Will they ever get that sorted out?....if it´s really impossible not to have droughts with their capacity, then at least don´t keep promising the same things over and over.

It won't get sorted out before the following statement is acknowledged as being wrong by Nintendo.

"A video game system cannot be considered successful, if it doesn't have good third party support."

Note how the statement from Iwata that you quoted puts the blame solely on first party games.

I guess you´re right there.Provided they take serious steps (like seriously increasing their capacity..no notable releases for 7 months (!) should not happen ever again...and stop treating 2D Mario as a 'B class game'), and not do shitty things, like letting your most successful home console ever suffer a premature death,  they can do very well for themselves.
