Apparently, you weren't around when Sony dominated with the PS1 and PS2? Sony made more money than them for several years in the gaming business. Gameboy and Pokemon sales still weren't even close to have Nintendo make more money during Sony's period of dominating the industry. |
Good one you should be a comedian.
Well you do know that Nintendo made games back then? Most of sony's studios right now were bought after releasing 1 average title for the PS3 because Sony desperately wanted new IP. They were not around in the PS2 or PS1 era. (insomniac etc is NOT sony)
So Nintendo didnt just make money with consoles and handhelds and third party games (a few sure bit still) but they made a ton of money with their own IP where like 80% of the 50/40 dollars you had to pay went directly to Nintendo.
Sony on the other hand had not alot of own (successful) games and not every PS2 owner etc bought the system to play games. My sister bought the PS1 as a music player because it had the nice visualization stuff and then she bought some games later on.
Plus sony always has alot to compensate because their RnD costs are freaking massive and their consoles dont always make a profit from day1.
I mean just think about it the Gameboy and Gameboy pocket and even the Gameboy Color which is basically a standard Gameboy with color screen and overclocked cpu have sold like 120 million units. And the tech was even "ancient" when it came out in 1989. So every system made Nintendo a profit and the thing even sold after the GBA (which also sold like 81 million units) was out which also made Nintendo buckloads of money from day one!
You can guess how much money nintendo made by selling something thats basically a calculator for hundreds of dollars right?
