"Unlike previous years, we will not have a large-scale [E3] presentation directed to everyone in the world. Instead, we are planning several smaller events focusing on software for America. Among these hands-on events will be one for American distributors and another for western media."

I thought this is what many people wanted? For Nintendo to stop looking inward at the Japanese market and work more closely with its counterparts in North America.

Also, I don't see what the big deal is about holding a smaller, more intimate press conference. It's not like that fact will stop the news from getting out, or somehow prevent the games from arriving in stores.

Never did I watch a Ninty E3 conference and think it was to focused toward the japanese market. E3 conference are usualy related to western stuff.

And the problem about not having a conference is the fact that they are losing the ''wow'' factor. While Sony and M$ will have over the top presentation with huge screens, loud music and houndreds of ppl applauding after trailers, Nintendo will have crickets. The ''wow'' factor contributes alot into what ppl are talking about. The fact that they are the only one not doing it is embarassing and is sign that we are going more and more towards and Big2 instead of a Big3.

I don't know about that. All that stuff is just noise and bright lights. Nintendo will "win" E3 if they show off the best games, not if they get the longest standing ovation.
