But yes, in my opinion, it would've been much better if they went with better hardware instead (7750 level GPU, quad core AMD CPU), and Wiimote 2 + Pro controller instead of Gamepad - that way they would build on what made Wii so popular, plus provide 3rd parties with hardware platform that would be very easy to port to.


This pretty much sums it up. They took a gamble on the idea and it isn't paying off right now. It would be really interesting to see how a big leap of a console would have done, especially if they could have done what the 360 did by having a 1 year lead with a proper next-gen console.

Oh well, the Wii U is still pretty fun.
