In other words, I hope Nintendo has learned from this that most third parties cannot be trusted to (a) keep to a release schedule or (b) release games for Nintendo platforms, even after talking about being partners.
This software dead period, like the one on the 3DS, seems at least in part to have been a planned response to let third parties have a time to shine. Unfortunately, everyone who was interested put their games in the launch window -- and others appear to have feigned interest to find out more information about the console.
While it is not good to have this dead time ... I would be far more concerned that Wal-Mart stores generally have less than half the 40-plus retail releases available. There are a good number of games for the system -- more than some classic systems ever had in a lifetime and more than four times as many games as is the average bought per console owner over the lifetime of a system (in other words, the attach rate).

I am Mario.I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble. Wii Friend Code: 1624 6601 1126 1492 NNID: Mike_INTV |
