The games are more mature. Zelda and Mario are just straight up games without any real world influence. As Miyamoto said, he wouldn't make games his couldnt play and the couch with his grandkids. Mature stands for games that should be played at a mature age, which have strong language, above mild violence, sex and possibly gore. Nintendo games are for everyone but are tailor made for children.
