Miiverse says different. Nintendo appears to be taking note of opinions in various communities, that's why we're getting Earthbound in the first place and why after Balloon Fight all of the following VC titles have been 60Hz.
That's partly what makes Miiverse so great. A very good medium for the common man to communicate with the Nintendo big wigs.
