Yeah I realized this a while ago when I picked up GTX 670s and put them in to SLI in a Phenom II 965 rig first and then found a quad SLI EVGA z77 mobo for sale for 79 bucks and built a 3570k rig. In synthetics 3570k was killing the phenom rig however in eyefinity there was less than 10% performance difference.
I actually did some very interesting benchmarks last night using 3 diffrent CPUs and a 7950. Will post my findings soon...
As far as microstuttering, we shall see. I have a gigabyte UD7 mobo which is probably the best AM3+ mobo right now. 4 way SLI/crossfire... if another card is needed, so be it. :)
