You fail to see it because it's a matter of perspective. Imagine if the tables were turned and Naughty Dog made Uncharted and the Last of Us before starting Jak & Daxter and Crash Bandicoot. That would be a good change in YOUR direction. What's ultimately important though is that they aren't a single franchise factory. Naughty Dog does whatever they think is interesting, and moves on to something new. I wouldn't mind if they released a new Crash Bandicoot and Jak & Daxter once in a while, but it has to be ALONG with new projects. Making new projects in between also helps build anticipation for the return of old projects, like the return of Deus Ex or Thief.
I love Skyward Sword and many other Nintendo games. I just wish that instead of pumping out knee-jerk nostalgia targeted games like New Super Mario Bros or Link to the Past 2, they put some more time into the creative and interesting titles like Pikmin or Pushmo.
