^First of all, why do you keep mentioning Gen 5 as though I said Gen 4 is superior? I've only been saying the opposite ya foo! xP
And yet again, you're doing the whole "X is better cause I say so!" No facts/evidence supporting your claims that Gen 4 has the weakest plot. Even if that were true it wouldn't matter as I've never heard of anyone buying Pokemon for it's story, as it's always been generic and predictable. All Pokemon games thus far have had the same plot. You're a trainer sent out by a professor to capture every Pokemon n get every badge so you can face the elite 4, meanwhile X team is up to no good and you need to stop them along the way. I don't believe any Pokemon game has deviated from this, Gen 3 n 4 included. So really, since they all have the same story just with different names and locations, calling one bad means they're all bad.
Now I couldn't really understand this next part too well, but it sounds like you're complaining that all you do is battle until you reach your destination. If that's the case then I'm not sure what else you're expecting, as that's the main draw of Pokemon, the battles. You must fight your way to the legendary/gym leader/X objective/etc. That's how it's always been, Emerald included. So that's yet another one of your critiques that could be said for every game. ;)
As for Emeralds double battles, I'm not sure what you're talking about as Gen 4 has em too. And the whole Physical n Special attacks not dependent on type was a pretty fundamental change. There was also something different about swapping out Pokemon but I can't remember it exactly among other things. Oh, and Gen 4 has online while previous Gens don't. Auto-win right there. :)
