Not sure how well that would work out. The whole point of the iPhone and iPad is that they're the Ferrari of the phone/tablet world. It'd be like Ferrari bringing out a car to compete with the Golf.

Here in Brazil most people buy Android phone because the iPhone is crazy expensive... maybe it is just for emergent markets like here but a sub-$200 iPhone will sell like water in the desert.

How are you so sure the cheaper Iphone will sell so much? I mean, if people these days want a lower costing Apple phone couldn't they just buy an Iphone 4 or 4S? I think you can get those for $0 in the states and then you pay monthly.

Hmmm... maybe in emerging markets it might do well. I'm more wondering about the change in image in the long-term. Apple have been marketing their products as premium quality. If they start moving into lower markets then that image is going to change, but I'm not sure they'll be able to balance their premium budget market segments.

Considering the high price of the iPhone in Brazil, isn't it likely they'll still price the budget phone quite high, just slightly cheaper then the preimum iPhone?
