And I doubt that PS4 would be a better console to tell a story on than PS3... That's really down to the writers, not the specs. Story telling most certainly was hindered before (like gen 3-5), but I don't think there's a good reason why there can't be good stories on current gen. |
What was showcased was better graphics (not that much of a rise compared from the past two generations) but what is obvious is they could do so much detail on the environment of other games especially with the improved RAM and other specs of the next gen systems ;o - of course none of that was shown yet.
Also developers can easily make a storyline on any system they want - its just some developers tend to focus on the gameplay mostly (Multiplayer/Online/DLC/etc) and forget about the storyline altogether.
I'm sure the new technology will bring forth new depths to gaming - it'll just be up to developers to take advantage of it which pretty sure majority wont unfortunately...

I'm still convinces that as far as story telling goes, you could have done anything this gen that you'll be able to do next gen... And besides, movies are way better at telling a good story (and books even more so!), what games does best is interaction... Which means game play :P
