Doesn't take much to see a dramatic increase when the baseline is close to 0 first-party games in a while.

We all know that Mario Kart and the like is coming though, but I would hope they have a price cut to go along with the games too.

I think 299.99 is a good price for this Christmas. It comes with 8gb of storage and the wiiu gamepad. I think it compares favorably to an Xbox 360 4gb Kinect Bundle in terms of a hardware purchase. Plus it's a system with a future rather than a past.

Well, both PS3 and 360 will likely get hefty price cuts this holiday season. It won't compare favourably to $149 or $199 systems with thousands of games if it's still at $299 and $349 by then.

If they get bundles with move or kinect at that price point it will be an interesting product for some people. But the Wiiu is still selling into the core Nintendo Market at this point. Many many of the people who will be purchasing Nintendo systems as this point are going to be doing it for the exclusive content. It will be largely a different consumer than that casuals buying last gen systems.  You seem to be but I know that I'm not at all concerned about a Wiiu Christmas with a Zelda Remake in it, Pikmin 3 on the market, and either Mario 3d or Mario Kart. They will sell all the units they ship during the Christmas buying season. They would hold off until next year on doing any sort of price cut.
