The "New" titles of Mario put the boots to the old ones, sales-wise. I think the New Zelda could exceed the old Zelda's as well, in large part because of the hype and longing created with such a long absence. And I think it will push systems.
Personally, I had almost no intention of buying any handheld. But I might buy a 3DS just for this game. I went from about a 10% to 60% 3DS buy because of 2D Zelda. If they release an updated model I may take the plunge.
