Its business decision weather or not a game comes out on a certain platform, and yes the power or lack their of in a machine plays in to this, it just so funny how people in this thread are playing it off as a none issue.
People need to keep in mind that games are a business, both the PS4 and 720 are essentially PC's, the power in these machines and the fact their comprised of PC parts means less time and money spent porting games and making them work, this factor translates into an easy business decision to port to PS4/720 as the risk of failed return on investment is low...the WiiU however doesn't have the same luxury because more money and time will be spent trying to get the game working on lower specced machine....so the business decision is "will the port to this machine justify the cost/time of porting it?" and like the Wii in it's day, the business answer will most likely be no.
Don't get me wrong the WiiU will continue to get most of the games as the PS3 and 360 as long as these two keep selling as they do because it makes business sense, luckly the WiiU not only has the same performance level if not a lil more, but the tech inside it means code is allot easier to port from the PS3/360 as there similar. So less money/time is spent making the port, lowering the risk on investment and making business sense to invest, however, once the PS4 and 720 kick into their 1st or 2nd year, the WiiU will make less and less business sense as it will cost more money and time to get the game running to the point where making money becomes questionable and thus most business decisions will end up skipping the WiiU in favor of a PC/PS4/720 platforms.
In effect as much as the people here will not like to admit or accept it, we will have a Wii situation all over again...the only condition I see things changing in Nintendos favor is if Nintendo uses that 10 Billion cash reserves, and goes heavy on funding and publishing 3rd party games, like Microsoft did with gears and Alan wake. The developer will be 3rd party but the games would be funded and owned by Nintendo, this will not only encourage 3rd party's to give Nintendo a chance but it will go ways to create a healthier relation, also it has an added bonus of adding a new franchise to Nintendos stable of franchises, something that Nintendo sorely needs as they need to broaden their portfolio in an attempt to try regain the core audience they alienated during the Wii hay days.
Thats my 2 cents, feel free to interpret this as you feel fit.
