I have never watched Dexter, but you remind me that I probably should start soon. Is it good/great/awesome?

1-4 are pretty good. Everything else is terrible to just mediocre. 

Update: I am now working my way through season 3 (only 2 or 3 episodes left). Season 1 and 2 were really good imo, but season 3 so far isn't nearly as good. Is season 4 better?

Season 3 is weakest of the best 4. 4 is pretty good, though not 1-2 good. 5 is bad. 6-7 are awful.

6 is really really bad.

:O but some say 7 was great. 

Eh. After 5-6 any chance of making dexter interesting again was gone. Season 7 trys to go in a good direction early on in the season but it falls apart.
