Is "casual gamer" merely short-hand for "n00b"?

Maybe the refer to gamers that casually play that game, not meaning they're casual gamers.

Me for example, I'm not a casual gamer at all. I play video games every day. But I've never spend an insame amount of hours to master a game. I don't like fighting games specially, mostly because of that. I pick them up, play some fights, knowing that I suck at it. I see that it would take several hours just to play decently with one (!) character, and this fact pulls me back. That's why I never buy fighting games.

What fighting games are trying to do is be fun even if you're a n00b (or to players that only casually will be playing the game). I think that's the type of players the mean when they say "casual" players.
