Dunno. Look at Zelda sales. This franchise really overstimated because of the media buzz. And yet, nobody really buying it except hardcore Nintendo fans.


WW is a rerelease and the original wasn't that popular among the fanbase, its sales will not be as representative as a new mainline Zelda similar (not equal) to Fable the Journey and the Fable franchise.

 

But I think that on a software starved Wii U, WW will sell more than 2 Milion. Its not like Wii U owners get many games. And I think the artstyle will appeal to alot of people. Could see it selling  well if they show it on TV for christmas.

 

Media buzz is directly related to the worth of a franchise, and It doesn't matter who buys the game sales are sales and alot of fanboys is a good thing. They are the best customers, again a reason why Zelda is more worth than Fable it has a hardcore fanbase many times bigger than the Fable hardcore, those guys stay with Zelda

 

If Fable 4 sells 5-6 Million and the next Zelda mainline 3-4 than I would say you are on to something but right now its too early to make that call, imo. If its a trend or just a slip up nobody knows. Its not like this hasn't happened to Zelda before. Zelda games sold sometimes better, sometimes worse. One game is not enough data to judge a classic franchise which is almost 30 years old.
