Clearly they (crytek) are wrong or crysis 3 would not be getting mediocre reviews and the series getting meh sales.I doubt graphics are that important for most gamers other than a select few pc ones. Yes it has a major part to play in games and people love comparing/discussing how a game looks but the main drivers for gamers are stories and gameplay.
I know there have been a lot of threads/articles about doom for the devs making games but I reckon that is bullshit. People adapt to changing situations and as with movies and the internet you have to change with them . If some studios cant adapt and grow, then some other devs will rise up to fill the gap.
