Distributed by Ubisoft........

Distributed doesnt mean developed. The thread title says Dev which means Developer. If you think Ubisoft being a distributor (who pretty much has already released and is going to release all of the games announced recently) is such a big deal, why didnt you mention it anywhere on your OP?

Edit: Apologies if I am deviating from the topic (although I am kinda not), only responding because I was told information ;p.

Also my intention isnt to downplay this news as I said which is great news for indie fans earlier.

Not sure if it's a big deal or not, I just find it really sad that some people think so lowly of indie devs that they don't even consider them to be 3rd party when that's exactly what they are, even if it's being distributed by a reputable publisher. It's kinda fucked up.

A proper term would be low budget third party developer so instead of saying that long term they call them Indie developer ;O.

I hope you are not talking about me especially when I dont even look/think at them so lowly as you say especially since I have been playing more and more indie games lately (i.e. Terraria, Beat Hazard Ultra, Cave Story, NightSky, etc).

Indie just means they are not funded by a publisher and works off their own budget, it can be high budget or low budget, which has nothing to do with them being 3rd party at all.
