You definitely get a risk of backfiring if you do that. I know I did go to a media blog about my unemployment situation, and all I got was sheer unadulterated hatred hurled at me, with one person saying I should kill myself so his taxes could be lower. Then there was the "I am a lazy bum". I don't see much good comes out about posting mundate personal news, or even fairly negative one, unless it gets you help.
What gets to me now is people have their personal lives on Facebook posted via autopilot, withour regard for the person who might be viewing. I believe Twitter becomes fairly useless because people overwhelm it with news that doesn't matter.
