Haha, they don't give two poops about Nintendo.
This is all about beating Apple and Google to control of the living room. Nintendo TVii is nowhere near robust of a service to be any type of a threat whatsoever. It's a half baked little feature on the Wii U that almost no one uses.
Microsoft is going huge into TV, even investing in their own TV production studio to create content.
MS is going after a broad audience like the one Apple taps into.
