im the one who is gonna sound silly because i dont know shit about managing PC's so dont worry

i have the PC connected to the screen with and HDMI. and cant i just disable the internal graphics card from the drivers menu? though i was afraid of doing that and it wouldnt connect the 660 right away if that does make any sense

Yes you can. In the drivers menu, do you see both the internal graphics and your GTX660? If so, you can disable the internal one and that should do it. I upgraded my Gateway that has internal graphics with an Sapphire HD Radeon 7770 1GB a few months ago, and that's all I had to do.
