Is Nintendo training console gamers to love handhelds?

I don't know if I would go as far as to say that they will go handheld ONLY.  They did combine their handheld and console R&D divisions recently so I am thinking something more along the lines of a hybrid as others have mentioned.

If they invest in graphene technology for some parts (incredibly cheap really) they could easily have a device that is plugged into the TV, maybe even via a dongle, to stream to it. Wireless graphene antennas are currently capable of 100tb/s in this early prototype phase. Streaming the entire game to a tv using that would be a cakewalk. The handheld portion would naturally have a screen, maybe of clamshell design to protect it, a large hard drive (SSD or something similar for quick access/also graphene memory as GFM), large battery (graphene would help here too, charging speeds 1000x faster than Li-ion). 

On Graphene Flash Memory in 2011: "Researchers at UCLA have developed a high-capacity and fast flash memory device through integrating graphene layers with conventional metal-oxide-semiconductor (MOS) technology. The novel device exhibits ultra-low power consumption, making it a promising candidate for terabit flash memory in portable electronic devices."- Terabit flash memory? Holy crap...

The player would be able to stream to the TV in order to get the full screen experience, either save the game to the portable (if it isn't all 1 device) or stop streaming, put the device in their pocket like a cell phone, and play full HD games with powerful specs (probably higher than this gen's) on the go, whenever they want.

The low cost of producing graphene components (scientists made over 100 super-capacitors on the surface of a DVD using a consumer grade LightScribe burner in under 30 minutes,) would make the device's electronics very cheap and that would be passed on to the consumer, resulting in a massive "impulse buy" price that would be hard to ignore. Being cheap doesn't mean weak though, graphene is 200 times stronger than steel, can be stretched by 20% without failing, is a better conductor than copper and an elephant would have to have all of its weight focused down to the tip of a pencil to penetrate it.

That is a bit off-topic though, haha. It would definitely be the best option for Nintendo to make a hybrid. People wouldn't need to buy 2 devices in order to enjoy all of Nintendo's games and they could choose if they wanted to use it as a console or a handheld.
