I really, really don't Microsoft is this dense and blind to pull something like this off. Customer loyalty to the 360 is strong but I don't think it is strong enough to compete against a machine with similar specs that offers free online (i think it's confirmed) AND offline gaming AKA the PS4. That's just my opinion and I could be terribly wrong, maybe they got an ace in the hole that will make the 720 so awesome that "always-on" won't even matter.
