I wouldn't be so sure; between Revelations being on 3DS and Wii U, the lackluster sales of RE6, and Capcom's comments about re-evaluating the direction of the franchise, I think there's a good chance the next mainline game will be on Wii U as well.
I don't want Nintendo to buy Platinum. I think Platinum is a stronger company for having the independence to decide what kind of game they want to make and seek out a publisher who will help them make it. I think they are a stronger partner for Nintendo because of that, as well.
But I would gladly throw almost any Nintendo IP at Platinum. Star Fox, absolutely. Metroid, maybe. They would actually probably be a really good choice for a Kid Icarus game for Wii U.
I would love to throw Ice Climbers at WayForward just to see what they'd do with it, but unfortunately that probably won't happen.
