Running "well" and run everything @ "max" are very different, though.

Everything at "max" usually means needless GPU rape often with no real benefits. For example, maxing out AA on a 24 inch 1080p screen is just silly...putting it to something resonable like 2X or FXAA can save you 20% of performance depending on GPU while visually not lowering your experience at all.

I see people that often just push all settings to max and really don't undertand what they are doing and if the extra noise, heat, power usage and frame rate drops are benefiting their gaming experience at all.
