By the end of the year Wii U will have a nice lineup of NSMBU, Nintendo Land, Monster Hunter 3, Lego City, ZombiU, Wind Waker, Pikmin 3, Wii Fit U, likely 3D Mario and Mario Kart, plus it might get a price cut and with holiday deals its possible that you can find one for $200 this christmas. The PS4/next Xbox will have just as much trouble, they will likely cost $400+ and the majority of there games will be available on there predeccesors. People seem to forget that close to half of PS360 owners bought there console in 2010 or later, those people likely wont upgrade for a few years. |
Do they really want to position themselves against PS360 though? All the advantages you say the Wii U will have at Christmas would be trumped; they'll have more games and be cheaper.

A $200-250 console with the line up i listed will sell well during christmas, PS360 might not even do a price cut this year to help offset losses for PS4/nextbox so they could be the same price this holiday. In 2014 Wii U will keep getting games that you cant get on other consoles like Smash Bros, X, Yoshi, FE x SMT, Retro's game(likely metroid), Bayonetta 2, while PS3/360/PS4/nextbox will still have most of the same games as each other.
