I personally prefer MGS1 over The Twin Snakes, I haven't played TTS but I always watched many scenes from it on a TV show about videogames that used to air here a long time ago, they showed it pretty often in the Game Cube section of the program and I thought they made it so crazy that I found it ridiculous compared to the original game... I also watched some cutscenes on YouTube and I really didn't like it because of that... I think I also preferred the soundtrack during boss fights in the original one but I'm not sure about this one.
I think it's up to you to decide what you prefer.
