The main problem behind buying Epic probably would be that those guys are heavily focussed on the cutting edge in graphics tech, so I imagine most of the key people would quit after being bought by Nintendo simply because they couldn't do what they are interested in anymore. While the existing engine and that might be worth quite a lot the real capital/worth Epic has is the skills of it's top people.


Nintendo is like Disney. They need new things like Marvel and Lucas Arts to broaden their market in the new age where the kiddy thing gimmicks don't work as well as yesteryear and kids have more access to mature games or in this case "rides". Most games that are like Marvel and Lucas Arts use the Unreal Engine.

In almost every generation Nintendo has always struggled to be the "cool" console, even when they were up against Sega.
